Default What are the Career Prospects After graduating in engineering ?

Candidates can either join the private sector, public sector or the government. In the government engineers can appear for the "Indian Engineering Services" exam conducted by the UPSC at the national level or join various departments at the state level through their respective exams. The armed forces also induct a number of engineering graduates every year. Other departments such as the civil aviation department also recruit engineers. Engineers can also join the Merchant Navy. Detailed career prospects are mentioned in respective articles on various branches of engineering. Future Scenario The reform process has seen India integrating with the global economy. Globalisation and liberalisation have seen the entry of multinational companies into India in all sectors . Due to the huge potential for infrastructure development there is a good demand for engineers. Telecommunication, electronics, computers and chemical engineers are likely to be in good demand. Mechanical and civil engineers can also look forward to ample job opportunities.
